About the event
As an employee in the APS, you have a critical role in promoting the organisation's vision, mission and business objectives and in assisting government in managing new and emerging challenges. Important skills are required to ensure you can best service your office, your team, and the public effectively.
This program is designed for those looking to enhance their capability in their current role and/or for those looking to move to the next APS grade. The workshop is constructed to ensure the core modules are progressive and aligned to ensure the best outcome for participants.
In each module we’ll delve into important skills, providing insights into how they can be learnt and make the outcomes tangible and implementable when back in the workplace.

Judith Bowtell
Director of Albany Lane Consulting
Judith Bowtell (she/her) is the sole director of Albany Lane Consulting. Previously, she has held Director positions and worked directly with heads of departments and Minister’s offices at state and federal level. Major projects included: Research and development of the NSW cultural infrastructure program; increasing incentives for offshore screen production, and subsequent industry and economic benefits; governance reform of major funding programs; and development of policy frameworks and partnerships for increased investment in Aboriginal Arts and Culture.
She is highly skilled in strategy and policy development, developing mutually beneficial partnerships and relationships, communications, stakeholder management, negotiation and influence, governance and network building.
She is a qualified professional coach, trained in line with the International Coaching Federation competencies and code of conduct and ethics. Her clients include international IT and media companies, health professionals, tertiary education institutions, national cultural institutions, and community-led organisations.
She holds an Advanced Diploma in Transpersonal Coaching, obtained through 18 months of training and supervision in 2011-2012. She also holds a Bachelor of Arts with honours from University of Melbourne, a Graduate Diploma in Arts Management from University of Technology, Sydney, and has studied at the post-graduate level in positive psychology, corporate wellness and meditation facilitation.
